What’s the fix for my TNT 135 backfiring?

The bike runs great except for random backfires and a weird cylinder issue. Feels like it's running on two cylinders, then suddenly wakes up after a few revs. Could this be a fuel injector problem or something electrical?

Going back to basics is probably the right call before I start chasing wild geese. I'll pull the plugs this weekend to see what story they tell. When you check the ignition wires are you just looking for obvious damage or is there more to it?
